Jane Fonda then
Jane Fonda has been an integral part of the entertainment industry since the 1950s, and today, at 82, she still hasn’t retired from the silver screen. Fonda was always interested in acting, and she started her Hollywood career during the early sixties. When the seventies rolled in, she already had a Golden Globe Award under her belt in the category of Most Promising Newcomer. By the late sixties, she was confident enough to turn down roles in Rosemary’s Baby and Bonnie and Clyde.
The seventies was argueably her best decade, despite a few setbacks. By the early seventies, Fonda had established her name in Hollywood following her memorable performances in Barbarella (1968) and Klute (1971). This gave her the confidence to become engaged in social activism. She was a public supporter of controversial causes, which has put a dent on her name, but has also skyrocketed her fame – after all, there’s no such thing as bad publicity.
