Sissy Spacek today
In the late seventies, Spacek received her first Academy Award nomination for Carrie, but her first win came several years later, for her performance in the biographical musical film Coal Miner’s Daughter (1980). By that time, Spacek has established a name in the entertainment industry. Throughout the nineties, she’s appeared mainly in independent cinema and minor roles in film and TV, but she’s made some notable appearances during the 2000s.
In 2002, she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress for the sixth time, for her role in the crime drama In the Bedroom. At 70, her acting career is still going strong, but her focus as shifted to TV. In 2011, the actress proudly received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
