Leaders, Not Bosses
Many people prefer the label “leader” to “bosses.” A leader will influence a group of people to do something by showing them through example. A boss will intimidate people into doing their bidding by threatening to withhold pay or even termination. Swedish employers, thankfully, are not like that.
In fact, some expats reported that their CEOs would come around during business hours and serve tea to their employees! They don’t sit in a corner office on the top-most floor of the building all day long. Swedish employers actually go down to the lower floors to see what’s going on in the day-to-day operations.
