Fika
So far, we’ve painted Swedes as people who hate socializing. That’s not the case; they’re just incredibly selective about who they socialize with. Also, there’s a time and place to hang out with friends in an informal way, and that time is Fika.

Fika is the Swedish tradition where everyone drops what they’re doing and hangs around a coffee table to drink coffee and eat cakes. Whatever it was you were doing prior to Fika, which usually takes place in the mid-morning and around 3 PM (so, twice every day), you’re supposed to put it on the backburner and enjoy your dang coffee, cakes, and friendships!
