When the HOA Does You Dirty
This guy had the most bewildering interaction with his homeowner’s association. He has some shrubs in his front yard, which he thought looked perfectly respectable. The HOA took issue with these shrubs, though, because there was dirt visible under them. This seemed like an obvious point to make, since plants grow in dirt…
The HOA was upset because front lawns “absolutely” can’t have any exposed dirt. This left our storyteller completely bewildered. How was he supposed to eliminate a completely natural part of his landscaping? He decided to throw some mulch under the shrubs. The HOA hasn’t come by to bother him again, so that’s apparently what they wanted. He thinks the mulch looks way uglier than the completely normal, natural dirt, and he’s probably right.
