Footing the Bill
Monthly HOA fees depend on where you’re living and the community where you own property. On average, HOA fees are a few hundred dollars a month. These fees usually cover the maintenance and amenities of your community, such as a pool, landscaping, and any staff members. Unfortunately, a community can raise the HOA fees if deemed necessary.

That’s what seems to have happened to this poor storyteller. Their community’s HOA is notorious for increasing everyone’s monthly bill if there are extra costs that have to be covered. One day, they received the most insane HOA fee ever. Everyone in the community received a bill for over $7,000! The HOA claimed that the fees were necessary to replace a fallen tree, but in a few weeks’ time, our storyteller noticed a brand new playground, new trees, and other additions to the community. Seems suspicious!
