Salt on the Wound
HOAs typically monitor a community to ensure everyone’s home is “up to code” and looks good. This HOA took it one step too far when tragedy struck a family in their community. A house in the neighborhood caught on fire, resulting in one of the walls burning down completely. The family living in the home was thankfully okay, but they ended up with a huge hole in the side of their house.
While waiting for the fire-damaged wall to be prepared, the family put up a blue tarp to cover the burnt hole. This seems like an obvious choice since no one wants to live with a giant hole exposing their private living space to the elements. The HOA didn’t think so, though. The HOA fined the poor family because the tarp was “an eyesore.” Hopefully, the family tore down the tarp and let their smoke-damaged wall-hole fly free, just to spite the HOA.
