Measurements are Relative
This OP’s parents hate their HOA, and here’s why. They are constantly fined because the branches of their tree “hang over” the sidewalk. The community rule states that all branches have to be at least six feet above the sidewalk for school buses to safely drive by. That’s fair enough.
What’s not fair, though, is that the parent’s HOA board doesn’t know how to measure a distance of six feet. The OP’s parents always ensure their branches meet the HOA requirements, but the board still tries to penalize them. Frustrated, they took a photo of their 6’2” son trying to reach the tree branches to prove that they weren’t violating any rules. Hopefully, that got the message across.
