Cooking Tips Reddit Chefs Bestowed on Amateur Cooks

August 8, 2010 by Kristen Reed

If you’ve ever floundered in the kitchen while trying to put together a one-course meal, this article is for you. From funny one-liners to great tips, all of us home cooks could use a helping hand in the kitchen and a bit of comical stress relief. While some of these tips seem like no-brainers, trust me, we’ve all been there, and we’ve all made the same mistakes! Luckily for us, we can find anything on Reddit – from absolutely random facts to useful knowledge. These Reddit users have only our best interest at heart, so sit down, take a scroll, then get in that kitchen and cook your heart out! Bon appetit!

#1: Too. Much. Salt.

Cooking is magic, science, and art rolled into one. And just like those three things, the result isn’t always what you were expecting. It’s good to find this out BEFORE you serve it up – it can save you some disappointment and embarrassment! Tasting as you’re making is the best way to be sure you’re on the right track.

Take this advice to heart, but don’t make yourself sick! Sampling raw ingredients is a huge no-no. Once your meat is cooked and you’re onto the sauce or seasoning, try a small bite! You can then decide if it needs more salt, some fresh herbs, or a trip to the trash can.
