#28: Yes, there’s a difference!
Cooking offers lots of flexibility. You can interchange ingredients, alter amounts, add this or that, and still come up with a wonderful meal. Baking is science. You can easily ruin a pie or cake if you try to wing it. Follow baking recipes to a t., and you should be just fine! Start simple before working your way up to the fancy desserts.
All that said, I do tend to doctor up my box cake mix a bit by adding a box of pudding and doubling the eggs. It can change a basic box of golden cake mix into a coconut delicacy if that’s what you’re aiming for. Pie crust, however, you never want to alter. Each parcel and crumb needs an exact ratio of fats to flours to be a perfect consistency!
