Kristie Alley’s life took some interesting turns. She was a varsity cheerleader for Wichita Southeast High School but chose not to continue the sport when she enrolled in Kansas State University to study drama. Alley dropped out during her second year to move to Los Angeles to pursue interior design. 

Alley did not end up sticking to cheerleading, academia, or interior design. However, her love for drama and acting never died. She landed her breakthrough role in 1987 on a very successful sitcom, ironically enough for Alley, called Cheers. Now, everybody knows her name as the successful actress that she continues to be today. `
