Missing out on acidity
One thing most home cooks don’t realize is that their dish is missing something. Compared to the stuff we can get at restaurants, we can never make dishes as good as they can. This isn’t because they use black magic or pray to the kitchen gods to produce the best-tasting food possible, but it’s because they know which ingredients work well with others.
If your dish is missing something, try adding a bit of acidity. Try adding half a teaspoon of lemon juice or balsamic vinegar to the dish. These ingredients can make the simplest of dishes pop!
