Delaware – Fancy Politicians
Amongst the many pictures, many of the old pictures taken in the US show fancy politicians. During that time, not everyone could afford or had any access to create a portrait of themselves because photography was expensive and rare. Taking a photo was not easy and as quick as we have now with our phones, it required stillness for about 15 minutes so that picture didn’t turn out to be blurry.
This picture shows that Benjamin Thomas Biggs has his portrait taken when he was a member of the Whig Party. The portrait was taken in 1860. Later, he became the 46th Governor of the State of Delaware.
